I was born in Juneau in 1989. I spent my childhood adventuring with my family in the outdoors; fishing, hiking, and skiing. I enjoyed mathematics throughout high school and decided to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering at the Colorado School of Mines. I graduated in May of 2011 and went to work for Pioneer Astronautics, a company funded by NASA to develop lunar and martian technologies to support future space exploration missions. I have always been an explorer and fascinated with learning as much as possible. I look to this trip as a chance to experience life in a new and unique way, while learning vast amounts about various cultures and world perspectives.
